New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has etched his name among the best NFL head coaches of all time and he is not finished yet.

In Belichick we trust.  That is the slogan New England Patriots fans have become accustomed to over the last two decades of championship football.

He has made so many moves over the years that have made fans and NFL experts scratch their heads.  But, in doing so, Bill Belichick has built a culture of winning that has yielded five Super Bowl championships and the possibility of a couple more.

Wipe “Spygate” out of the equation and the Patriots stoic head coach is hands down one of the best, if not the best, head coach in the history of the NFL.

It is undeniable.

Even players who have been on the other side of the football admire him and want to play for him.

From Chad Johnson to Darrelle Revis, opposing players have sat and watched with admiration how he runs his ship.  It’s about the team and not the individual player.  But, the way Belichick coaches, the individual player has an opportunity to do their job and help the team win in a major way.

The hard work ethic he instills in his players have made champions out of players other teams have given up on.  There was Corey Dillon and Randy Moss.  There was LeGarrette Blount, Aqib Talib and then there was Martellus Bennett.  All came to New England with baggage.  All, but Moss and Talib, left with Super Bowl rings.

But, even Moss and Talib left the land of Belichick with a sense of winning.  Moss ran himself out of Foxboro, but quickly realized what he left behind.

The Belichick way works

As the New England Patriots prepare for another Super Bowl run, Bill Belichick has put together a team that could be his deepest ever.  Players like Mike Gillislee, Kony Ealy, Rex Burkhead, Stephon Gilmore, Dewayne Allen, Brandin Cooks and a bunch of young players will quickly learn what “no days off” really means.

More from Chowder and Champions

Dedication to team leads to championships.  There are two decades of success to prove that point.  Retired defensive tackle Terrence Knighton summed it up best in an interview with Pro Football Talk Live.  He didn’t make the team a year ago, but has always been appreciative of the experience and what he had an opportunity to be a part of.

"“There’s a certain way they do things and it works.  It’s obvious by their success,” Knighton said in the interview.  “Most of the guys that stick around there are all on the same page and they just have one way of doing things.  They’ve been doing that since he’s been there.”"

As frustrating as his demeanor and tight-lipped locker room has been throughout the years, even the media appreciate the way he leads.  He knows what it takes to win and is willing to sacrifice a play or even players to get the best end result.  More times than not, his decisions have worked.

Once in a while there is a 4th and 2 call or an unnecessary onside kick up by 14 that fuels questioning.  But even then, one has to wonder whether Bill Belichick makes those decisions to accomplish something greater.

That’s what happens when brilliance is at work.  It’s undeniable.
