Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts is behind in All-Star Game voting, but he shouldn’t be. Give him your vote now!

As it stands right now, the Boston Red Sox are without a starter in the All-Star game. The third issue of fan voting has Mookie Betts 5th among AL outfielders. We need to get him into the top 3.

Mookie Betts is behind New York slugger Aaron Judge, L.A.’s Mike Trout, Houston’s George Springer and Cleveland’s Michael Brantley. Judge should absolutely be the top outfielder at this point, but how does Mookie stack up with the other three guys?

Player A: .337 BA, 16 HR, 36 RBI, 10 SB, 36 BB, 42 SO, .461 OBP, 1 E

Player B: .280 BA, 11 HR, 37 RBI, 11 SB, 31 BB, 25 SO, .360 OBP, 4 E

Player C: .296 BA, 5 HR, 28 RBI, 7 SB, 20 BB, 35 SO, .360 OBP, 1 E

Player D: .277 BA, 18 HR, 43 RBI, 0 SB, 23 BB, 65 SO, .348 OBP, 0 E

As it stands right now, Player A and Player D are in the top 3 for AL outfielders, while Player B and Player C are on the outside looking in. Player B has the least votes out of the group, and that is Mookie Betts.

More from Chowder and Champions

Player A is Mike Trout, and he definetley deserves a starting spot in the All-Star Game, even if he is hurt now. Player D, George Springer, would orund out the outfield spots for the American League. Springer has hit for power, as he leads this group in homeruns and RBI, but he’s also struck out the most, walked the second least, and has stolen zero bags.

Michael Brantley is Player C and he also has more votes than Betts. He doesn’t lead in any major category for this group.

The way I see it, Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and Mookie Betts should be voted as the American League starting outfielders.

Betts power numbers aren’t as high as we’d like, but he’s certainly trending upwards after lastnight’s game when he had two homeruns to go with a single and a double.

Boston will likely have a few players in the All-Star Game even if Mookie isn’t voted in. Betts would likely be selected alongside starter Chris Sale and closer Craig Kimbrel, who are both having dominating seasons. If you’d like to help Mookie get in, vote right now right here.
