Boston Red Sox: John Farrell gets his monies worth after getting tossed (video)
With the Boston Red Sox down 4-1, a balk was called on Fernando Abad, resulting in an Angels run. Things then got fun when John Farrell took the field.
The Boston Red Sox were already down 4-1 in the 7th inning on Saturday against the Angels when a ridiculous balk was called on relief pitcher Fernando Abad. The Angels had a runner on third base so the balk resulted in a run and a 5-1 LA lead.
Red Sox manager John Farrell then stormed the field to argue with the home plate umpire.
After the umpires all huddled to confer, the balk was upheld. Farrell then took his argument to the crew chief Bill Miller. Farrell was ejected, and then took things to the next level, providing fans and the team with one of the best ejections of the year.
Miller and Farrell exchanged words for a while, and the FOX camera crew for the game did a great job with their shots. The saliva seen coming out of the corners of Bill Miller’s mouth made this one a great ejection.

This was Farrell’s first ejection of the 2017 season, there will surely be a few more as the season goes on. This one was old school baseball all the way. With the amount of reviewable calls nowadays, you just don’t see manager arguments like this one.
John Farrell was likely using the ejection as an opportunity to light a fire under the Red Sox, who can’t seem to get anything going offensively tonight. Red Sox bench coach Gary DiSarcina will finish the game as the acting manager. We’ll see if Boston can get it going to come out on top with a win.
