New England Patriots: Tom Brady ranked No. 1 on NFL Top 100
According to his peers, 5-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is the best player in the NFL ahead of the 2017 season.
The NFL Top 100 of 2017 concluded with the top 10 tonight. When all was said and done New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady found himself at No. 1.
Tom Brady was incredible in 2016, and that will likely continue into 2017. TB12 played in 12 regular season games after serving his bogus four-game Deflategate suspension, and he took the league by storm. Brady then led the Patriots to Super Bowl LI and the greatest comeback in NFL history.
Two other signal callers landed in this year’s top 10, those being Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan and Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Here is a look at the entire top 10:
- QB Tom Brady, New England Patriots
- LB Von Miller, Denver Broncos
- WR Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
- WR Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
- LB Khalil Mack, Oakland Raiders
- QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
- RB Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
- WR Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants
- RB Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers
- QB Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
By now you know the story of the New England Patriots comeback in the Super Bowl. For some, it may have been the first time they watched Brady all season, but he was superb throughout. In 2016 Brady threw for 3,554 yards and 28 touchdowns, while only having 2 interceptions. Remember that this was over just 12 games. His QB rating was 112.2 for the regular season.

Brady should have been named the NFL MVP, but he got the last laugh by taking down the league MVP Matt Ryan in the Super Bowl. In New England’s three playoff games Tom Brady was a bit off as compared to the regular season, but overall he was tremendous. Brady threw for 1,137 yards and 7 touchdowns, but he did have 3 interceptions. It should also be noted that the aging quarterback improved his mobility last season as he was better able to avoid the rush and actually had two long 15 yard runs.
On the NFL Network, special Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell, Buccaneers guard Caleb Benenoch, Patriots running back James White, Falcons running back Vic Beasley, Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniels, and Jets linebacker DeMario Davis among others spoke on Brady’s behalf. They all had nothing but praise for the greatest quarterback of all-time.
While the NFL may have gotten it wrong by not naming Brady the league MVP, at least his fellow players got it right. It may even be more of an honor since it is an honor bestowed upon him by his peers.
