Boston Red Sox: John Farrell suspended one game for Sunday’s ejection
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell will serve a one-game suspension Tuesday night, stemming from his antics and ejection on Sunday.
On Sunday, Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell got heated after a balk was called on pitcher Fernando Abad. The home plate umpire had called time for the batter, but the crew chief said the balk had already been issued prior to it. Farrell didn’t agree.
Farrell made his way out to the home plate umpire, and when he didn’t get the answer he wanted, he took it to crew chief Bill Miller.
Miller wasn’t liking what Farrell had to say and he ejected him. That’s when things got even more intense. Farrell got right into Miller’s face, and you could see their blood boiling.
"“Time was called. Time was clearly called before the balk was called,” Farrell said. “So that was the dispute.”"

Now, John Farrell has been suspended one game by Major League Baseball for that incident. His suspension will be served Tuesday night as the Red Sox take on the visiting Minnesota Twins.
Farrell was also fined an undisclosed amount of money by MLB.
Red Sox bench coach Gary DiSarcina will likely serve as the manager in Farrell’s absence tonight. Boston and Minnesota will face off after the Red Sox took a 4-1 win from them yesterday behind a strong performance from Chris Sale. Boston would love to see Mitch Moreland continue to rake, as he has a home run in each of the last three games.

Drew Pomeranz will be on the mound tonight opposite Twins pitcher Hector Santiago. As it stands, the Red Sox are tied with the New York Yankees atop the AL East, with a 42-34 record. The Yankees will take on the Chicago White Sox tonight in a game that starts roughly an hour after Boston’s. Let’s hope the Red Sox can take the East lead and hold onto it for good.
