The negotiations are over as the Boston Bruins and David Pastrnak reach a new deal.

Boston Bruins fans it is official. David Pastrnak has signed a 6-year extension and will be a Bruins for the foreseeable future. TSN’s Darren Dreger broke the news on Twitter early this morning.

Don Sweeney is a miracle worker. It was reported countless time that Pastrnak wanted an 8-year deal worth around 8 million per year. The fact that Sweeney was able to get Pastrnak down to $6.6 million per year is fantastic.

The Bruins now have Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak in long term deals all under $7 million per season. Sweeney deserves a lot of the credit here. Unlike Peter Chiarelli, he did not mess this up and was able to get the team great deals and keep great players.

Let’s not forget about Pastrnak either. He saw what he could make and still chose to resign with the team. He saw the type of money he could get next season but chose to return. Now Pastrnak will be signed until he is 27. He put up 34 goals and 36 assists last season and is the exact type of player that the Bruins need to build for future cup runs.

The timing is also great for a deal to be made. Training camp just started today and David Pastrnak should be at camp this weekend according to Joe Haggerty via Twitter.

This summer long nightmare is finally over for Bruins fans. We won’t lose yet another young talent to the free agency market. Don Sweeney is proving to be a pretty good GM when it comes to getting good long term deals.  Now the Bruins can focus on the upcoming season and not negotiations.
