Boston Bruins: Torey Krug out three weeks with fractured jaw
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins defensive injury woes continue as veteran Torey Krug will be out for three weeks. Young talent will need to step it up.
The Boston Bruins were put through the ringer last season with the injuries they amounted. They lost Torey Krug and Brandon Carlo for the series and multiple other defensemen were fighting through injuries.
Now it is being reported that Torey Krug will be out for at least three weeks due to a fractured jaw. He took a puck to the face in the teams preseason victory on Tuesday night. With that, the defenseman will miss at least the opening week of the season.

This is some rough news for Krug after the knee injury he dealt with last season.
It is also intriguing because now the Bruins only have one left-handed defenseman that has some decent NHL experience in Zdeno Chara. Bruins fans might get an opportunity to see Jakub Zboril, Rob O’Gara, Jeremy Lauzon, or Matt Grzelcyk as CSNNE Joe Haggerty noted.
I would really be intrigued to see Zboril get some NHL playing time. During his time in the QMJHL, he scored 28 goals and 66 assists. Zboril was drafted in the first round of the 2015 draft. So it would be interesting to see if they bring the 20-year-old up to the pro club.
With the loss of Krug, the Bruins lose one of their best offensive defensemen. His ability to move the puck and the speed he possesses makes him a key part of the team.
The Bruins play another preseason game tonight versus the Philadelphia Flyers. Here is the projected D-pairs.
This will be an important game for Grzelcyk and Lauzon as this could be their chance to prove they can play in the NHL. I expect Grzelcyk to be a favorite as well as he seems to have a similar style of play. With 26 assists last season in Providence he can be a guy that can cycle the puck and help in the offensive zone.

This injury hopefully will not cause Torey Krug to miss a chunk of the season. The Bruins will reevaluate his status in three weeks.
