Boston Red Sox: Drew Pomeranz it’s your time to shine now
Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale was rocked by the Astros in Game 1. Now, they’ll need Drew Pomeranz to come up big in Game 2.
With the Boston Red Sox in desperate need of a Game 2 win in the ALDS, here’rs my open letter to the starter.
Will Drew Pomeranz see this? No, probably not, but the thoughts I’m sharing are the thoughts of Red Sox Nation, and you know he’s feeling the heat to deliver a win on Friday afternoon.
Dear Drew Pomeranz,
As you get ready for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Houston Astros, I want you to know that we all believe in you. Honestly, you’ve been the Red Sox best pitcher down the stretch, and we have no reason to believe that won’t continue here today.

You just watched Houston destroy your buddy Chris Sale. Are you going to let them do that to you too? I don’t think so. It’s time to go show the rest of the league why YOU can be the best pitcher on the Boston staff this postseason. You turned fans into believers this season with your 3.01 ERA after the All-Star break. You may not have the strikeout stuff that Sale does, but you’re actually getting the job done a lot better than he is right now.
Do you really want your season hinging on a Doug Fister start in Game 3? I know I certainly wouldn’t. That’s why you, Drew, need to go out onto the mound on Friday night and shut down the Houston Astros. They may have Altuve, Correa, and Springer, but so what? You have the ability to shut those Astros down for 6 innings before your bullpen puts the locks on.
Get. This. Done.
Sincerely,
Logan Jakubajtys, for Chowder and Champions and Red Sox Nation
