After a 4-3 victory on opening night the Boston Bruins future is looking bright.

The Boston Bruins kicked off their season with a great win versus the Nashville Predators. Even though it is just the first game there is a lot of things Bruins fans should be excited about. The Bruins had big performances from some of their most inexperienced players.

Charlie McAvoy

McAvoy played his first regular season on Thursday night and once again showed the talent he possesses. He had a goal and an assist on the night.  His assist came on David Pastrnak’s first-period power play goal.  McAvoy looked comfortable running the point and tee’d up the puck for David Pastrnak who blew one past Pekka Rinne.

Then in the second period, McAvoy made a great effort to join David Krejci and Jake Debrusk in the Predators zone to create a 3 on 2 rush.  Krejci then drops the puck for McAvoy who wristed one past Rinne to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead.

Jake DeBrusk

More from Chowder and Champions

The 20-year-old forward had a great start to his career. I didn’t know what to expect from him this season especially with him being thrust onto the second line.  DeBrusk had a goal and assisted on Charlie McAvoy’s goal. His goal though was a beauty. David Krejci tapped the puck to him and DeBrusk made a move to his forehand was able to secure his first goal of his career.  It was also such a good goal because DeBrusk was able to shake off a Predators defenseman and muscle his way into prime position to score. It also seems that DeBrusk and Krejci have built some chemistry training in the preseason.

"I saw Grizzie (Matt Grzelcyk) come up the wall with a pass from Tuukka (Rask). He popped it to Bjorkie (Anders Bjork). As soon as (Bjork) made the play to Krech, I was kind of already in line with David. So I knew it was coming to me because I knew Krejci always makes that play. I was thinking about my move: I was hard on my stick, because I knew the defenseman was going to give me a little bit of flack. I made a move and it went in. Pretty big celly after.”"

The celly was beautiful and the goal produced one of the best moments in this young NHL season. Former NHLer and Jake’s dad Louie DeBrusk was in attendance and he seemed pretty proud of his son.

Anders Bjork

Let’s not forget about the star of the preseason. He began the night skating with Brad Marchand and Ryan Spooner. At the end of the night it was interesting to see Bjork play along side David Krejci and fellow rookie Jake DeBrusk. Bjork assisted on Debrusk’s great goal in the second for his only point of the game. Bjork racked up 16 minutes of ice time and was also present on the power play.

The rookie out of Notre Dame may not have had the flashy starts like McAvoy and DeBrusk but proved he can handle being a top-six forward.

The rookies will enter the matchup versus the Colorado Avalanche with some confidence under their belt after a great showing Thursday night.
