Boston Red Sox ALDS Game 4 preview and predictions
The Boston Red Sox offense exploded on Sunday to stay alive in the ALDS. On Monday, they’ll look to even things out at Fenway Park.
It will be Rick Porcello on the hill for the Boston Red Sox in a win-or-go-home ALDS Game 4 at Fenway Park on Monday afternoon.
Houston will send Charlie Morton to the mound as they hope to close out the series, ending the Red Sox season. Boston will hope that Monday goes a lot like Sunday did though. Boston’s offense found their rhythm as they cruised to a 10-3 win. Doug Fister did just enough to eventually get the ball to David Price, who shut things down. Hanley Ramirez made a couple huge hits, and Boston is now back in this thing.
One concern for Monday is the weather. Rain is in the forecast, but the fact that the game is at 1 PM instead of 7 PM could help. The game may be able to get squeezed in before the rain truly starts to fall. A postponement would mean that Game 4 would instead be played on Tuesday. That would mean that both the Red Sox and Astros starters from Game 1 could return on normal rest. So, if this game on Monday is rained out, we could see Chris Sale and Justin Verlander once again.
For now, though, let’s see if Game 4 is played on Monday while the Red Sox still have the momentum. Here are my predictions for a few key players on the Boston side.
Rick Porcello: 5.2 IP, 4 ER, 5 Ks
Pretty Ricky hasn’t been 2016 Pretty Ricky. He will have a very solid, but not great, game against the Houston Astros on Monday though. I’m thinking that Porcello can cruise through 3 innings, before hitting a little bump in the road. Give the Astros 2 runs in the 4th, but Porcello will settle down. He will give up another 2 in the 6th inning before being pulled.

Hanley Ramirez: 2-4, HR, 3 RBI, BB
This man is on fire! Remember when John Farrell started Eduardo Nunez at the DH instead of Hanley in Game 1? That’s why he’ll probably lose his job. Well, it’s just one of the reasons.
I believe that Ramirez will keep up the pace in this ALDS series. GAme 3 was huge for HanRam, and Game 4 can be as well. I think Hanley will hit a 3-run bomb in this one, let’s say it’s to straightaway center.
Dustin Pedroia: 3-5, 2 RBI
Pedey hasn’t performed well in big situations so far in the ALDS. On Monday, I think that will change. With three total hits on the afternoon, Pedroia will drive in two teammates to get the Red Sox on the board.
Next: Price, Ramirez lead Sox to Game 3 win
Game Prediction: Red Sox 7, Astros 4
Boston will find a way to tie the ALDS at 2 games apiece before they head back to Houston for a winner take all matchup. This would likely set up Chris Sale and Justin Verlander, with Boston looking for a better result than they got in Game 1. The Red Sox will look to become just the third team to win the ALDS when down 0-2 since the series went to the 2-2-1 format. The other two teams to come back from that 0-2 hole in the new format? The 1999 Boston Red Sox and the 2003 Boston Red Sox.
