Boston Bruins rumored as visiting team for 2019 NHL Winter Classic
The Boston Bruins are rumored to be the visiting team for the 2019 NHL Winter Classic. It would be their third Winter Classic overall.
The Boston Bruins have hosted 2 NHL Winter Classic games in the last few years, with the latest in 2016 at Gillette Stadium against the Montreal Canadiens. Now, they may be the visiting team for the first time in one of these games.
Multiple sources are saying that the Bruins will play the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL Winter Classic. The game will reportedly be played at Notre Dame Stadium.
Barstool Sports originally posted the breaking news tweet, but many others have begun to confirm these rumors.
The formal announcement for the 2019 NHL Winter Classic is expected to come later this month. Notre Dame is hosting the Naval Academy for a football game on November 18th, and that would be the perfect backdrop for the news.

Boston hosted the 2010 Winter Classic against the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park. They won that game but lost the 2016 clash with Montreal.
Chicago has already been involved in three Winter Classic games. They were the home team in 2009 against the Red Wings at Wrigley Field, and they’ve been the away team twice. In 2015 they faced the Capitals in Nationals Park and in 2017 they faced the Blues at Busch Stadium. This season’s Winter Classic is between the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets. If the 2019 game is played at Notre Dame Stadium, it would be just the second time the game took place at a college football stadium. The first was in 2014 when the Maple Leafs and Red Wings played at the big house, Michigan Stadium.
