Since it is the most wonderful time of the year, I have decided to write a letter on behalf of the Boston Red Sox.

Dear Santa,

Merry Christmas! I hope that this past year has treated you well, and I am happy to inform you that the Boston Red Sox have had a pretty good year. I know for a fact that the team and I want to make it even better. There are a few wishes I have, and I hope you can give me all of the things I ask for.

This year for Christmas, I would like a solid acquisition or two. While we may or may not need it, I imagine that it wouldn’t hurt. JD Martinez would be a great signing. If you could just go ahead and have your elves wrap him up and put him under Dave Dombrowski’s Christmas tree, I would be a very happy fan.

I know I wish for it every year, but another championship would be fantastic. You gave me 3 in the last 13 years. I love them all very much, but a 4th one would be even better. I’m sure you understand.

More from Chowder and Champions

If at all possible, I would enjoy another great season from Chris Sale. He was a great acquisition, I thank you for getting him for me last year. I promise I will not take him for granted either. I already did that with Jon Lester. This time will be different, I promise!

Finally

I know that we got rid of John Farrell. He did well for us, but Pedroia just means so much more to the team. The last thing I ask of you this Christmas is for Alex Cora to manage the team well. He wasn’t the guy I wanted, but I am not going to throw a fit. If he was what Dave thought was best for the Sox, then I’m sold. I just want the championship. That is my biggest wish.

I hope that I deserve these gifts. If you give them all to the team and I, I will throw in extra milk an cookies for you next year!

P.S. If you encounter any Yankees fans, please replace their presents with a lump of coal. That would be incredible!
