As we head into the new year it is possible that the Bruins could make a run for the 2018 Stanley Cup.

The Boston Bruins have been playing some quality hockey as of late. They are 19-10-5 on the season and have won 13 of their last 17 games. Everything seems to be clicking on the team.

They have shot up the standings after struggles early on. The Bruins are 6th in the Eastern Conference and are only 3 points shy of the third-place Washington Capitals. It is early, not even halfway through the season, but there are some signs that this team could win the cup.

The most dominant line in hockey

The Bruins first line is like a Picasso, they are a work of art. Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak, and Brad Marchand must have been born to play with each other. They are the top 3 scorers on the team combining for 89 points. As long as Bergeron can stay healthy, the Bruins will continue to get a high scoring output from these guys. Even without him, “Pasta” and “Marchy” have shown they can continue to score like they did early on in the season.

Tuukka Rask is playing phenomenal

Rask got his fair share of hate early on in the season. It was well deserved as he was playing terrible, but as of late he has been proving the haters wrong. In his last 7 games, Rask is 6-0-1. He has returned to form and is playing great. The Bruins need Rask to play well if they want to just make it into the playoffs. With his recent success, Rask is now 11-8-3 on the season and has a 2.28 GAA as well a .918 save percentage. No matter if you like Rask or not we all hope he can continue to keep up this level of play.

Charlie McAvoy is the real deal

Charlie McAvoy is one of the best rookies in the NHL. McAvoy has 5 goals and 14 assists on the season. He is a delight to watch on the ice as he is as effective on defense just as much as he is on offense. McAvoy will hopefully be a Bruin for a long time. His hard hits and beautiful shot embodies what it means to be a Boston Bruin. McAvoy’s potential seems astronomical. His number, as well as some championship banners, could be headed up to the rafters one day.

Next: McAvoy is one of a kind

It is early, but this team has shown they can compete. The playoffs are a different animal though. It seems that anything can happen. With the bevy of rookies on this team, it will be interesting to see how they react and perform in the postseason. If the Bruins can keep up this level of play though, they may be even able to add to all of the banners already hanging from TD Garden.
