The New England Patriots were able to come out on top and are headed to the Super Bowl once again. The back and forth game had some fans wondering if they would be upset by the Jaguars.

Dear New England Patriots,

I’m sorry.

Why on Earth would I ever doubt this team? I have to admit after the Dion Lewis fumble I was shocked. Those are the types of plays that usually change momentum to the Patriots favor. In recent memory we can think of Dont’a Hightower’s sack in the Super Bowl, and Julian Edelman’s pass in the playoffs.

This time it went the other way. The play started out perfectly and when Lewis caught the ball it looked like the Patriots swindled yet another team. Then Myles Jack stripped Lewis of the ball and all Patriots fans hearts sank.

Then the Patriots proceeded to show why they are the best team in the NFL.

The comeback begins

The Jacksonville Jaguars had the ball and all of the momentum after recovering the fumble, but the Patriots defense came up big and squashed that momentum by forcing a three and out. Then Tom Brady and the offense went to work as they drove 85 yards in eight plays. The drive concluded with a touchdown catch from Danny Amendola who is one of the most clutch player’s on the Patriots roster right now. You could say I was excited.

Then everything started to go the Patriots way. Matthew Slater made a great tackle on the kickoff and once again a veteran player who signs with the New England Patriots shines in the playoffs, this time it was James Harrison.

More from Chowder and Champions

With the score at 20-17, the Patriots had a chance to put it away with just over six minutes left. You got a little nervous, but we have been here before. In the back of my head, I knew the Patriots had the game in the bag. The defense caused another three and out and the greatest quarterback to play got the ball with less than five minutes left in great field position after a great punt return by Amendola.

Brady painted his masterpiece on that drive. The conclusion a beautiful pass to Amendola in the back of the end zone that sent Gillette into pandemonium. Blake Bortles surly wasn’t making a final drive in the playoffs to beat New England. That was confirmed when Stephon Gilmore swatted down a pass on 4th down.

Never doubt this team

So I would like to once again apologize to the Patriots. I will never doubt you nor should I. You are the best team in the league and can never be counted out of a game. Tom Brady is the greatest Quarterback ever. He can do no wrong. It is just the best thing in the world to be a Patriots fan. Now hopefully Rob Gronkowski will be cleared to play as he is currently in concussion protocol, but I won’t make the same mistake again.

So mark it down folks, the defending champions are headed to the Super Bowl and will most likely be returning to Gillette Stadium with their six Super Bowl championship.
