Boston Bruins: Claude Julien says the B’s are doing ’embarrassing things in the game of hockey’
By Sam Minton
The former Boston Bruins coach didn’t seem too happy after the Canadiens loss on Saturday night.
I’m sorry Claude Julien, but your performance as the Montreal Canadiens head coach is the only embarrassing thing in the game of hockey. The Boston Bruins completed the season sweep of the Habs with their 2-1 victory and after the game Julien was not pleased.
"“I think it’s pretty obvious. When your best shooter is on a breakaway and doesn’t get a shot away, I think everybody agrees that it should have been a penalty shot,” said Julien, referencing a first period slashing minor penalty on Sean Kuraly that broke up a breakaway chance for Montreal. “What’s embarrassing is [Rick] Nash embellishing [a high-sticking call]. The stick hits his shoulder, it doesn’t even hit his face and he embellishes and looks at the referee…Those are embarrassing things in the game of hockey. We’re a tired team and we have to kill penalties, and it eventually caught up to us. That’s disappointing that when we had some of those things happen, or another penalty that’s called five seconds later because we end up on a two-on-one. As I said, we evaluate ourselves and we expect others to evaluate themselves as well.”"
Now the only gripe I see that is valid is the Kuraly penalty. That seemed like it was going to lead to a penalty shot. Besides that Julien needs to get back on the saddle and not whine because he lost. The penalty that cost the Habs the game was a delay of game late in the third period and that wasn’t controversial at all. The Bruins are not embarrassing the game of hockey, you are.
The state of the best rivalry in sports
The Canadiens are a dumpster fire right now. They are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 25-29-11 record. Julien has taken a team that usually competes at the top of the East and brought them to the basement.

It seems like the rivalry isn’t even fun anymore. The Bruins dominated the season series as well as their season overall. The B’s are making a run for first place in the Eastern Conference. Led by Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and Charlie McAvoy the Bruins are going to try and bring the Stanley Cup back to Boston.
For the time being it looks like the Bruins are going to dominate the meetings between two of the oldest teams in the league. They have a much better roster filled with young, and talented players.
Claude Julien just seems petty taking shots at his former team. Especially since the Boston Bruins are doing much better without him.
