New England Patriots: The Pats should go after Odell Beckham Jr
By Sam Minton
With the news of a holdout looming, The New England Patriots may be able to swoop in and steal Odell Beckham Jr from the New York Giants.
This offseason has been an interesting one for the New England Patriots as well as the rest of the NFL. NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport has reported that Odell Beckham Jr is preparing for war against the New York Giants. Beckham will be holding out until he gets a new contract. He won’t be practicing or playing in any games until he gets paid.
As mentioned above the news comes after Giants owner John Mara stated that no one is untouchable when it comes to trade talks.
OBJ is worth it
What would it cost for the Patriots to get one of the best wideouts in the league? Not that much when you consider the caliber of the player you will be getting. The New York Daily News is reporting that it will cost prospective teams a first round pick plus. The plus is up for debate. In the Patriots situation, they could give up Brandin Cooks.

Now Cooks did have a great season, but this is OBJ we are talking about. One of the best wide receivers in the NFL. In 47 games OBJ has 313 catches for 4424 yards and 38 touchdowns. He is a playmaker and a gamechanger. Beckham has more yards and touchdowns with fewer catches than Cooks. There is no reason to not want Beckham.
He may have his off the field “problems”, but they don’t affect his play on the field. With OBJ on the Patriots roster, they will be Super Bowl favorites for even longer. Even without Brady, the New England Patriots would have a cakewalk to the championship if Beckham was on the roster.
A perfect fit
A lot of people in New England love Tom Brady. He has brought joy to millions of people with his success on the field. You know who else loves Tom Brady? Odell Beckham Jr.
Beckham has posted videos of TB12 on his Instagram account and has gone back and forth with him in the comments section. Odell even owns a sick custom Brady jersey.
Beckham would add a layer to the Patriots offense that hasn’t been accessed since the departure of Randy Moss.

Beckham is a special player, usually trades like these only happen in Madden. You would be stupid to not want one of the best receivers in the league on your team.
