Boston Celtics: Terry Rozier embracing his time to shine
Boston Celtics back up point guard Terry Rozier has stepped up in Kyrie Irving’s absence.
Well we all know by now Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier has stepped up, don’t we? But the way he’s done it has been awesome to watch. Rozier is working within Brad Stevens offense and is really helping this team get wins.
Of course, it’s more than that. Terry Rozier has been incredibly efficient when he’s on the court, and it’s been a huge help with All-Star Kyrie Irving out. Sunday in Sacramento “Scary Terry” put up 33 points on 12 of 16 shooting, and made EIGHT three’s. The Celtics record for three’s in a game? Ten.
It’s such a great feeling knowing that Rozier can really lead this team with Irving out. After years of the Celtics never really having a solid back up point guard, this year Rozier has absolutely solidified himself as at least one of the best backups in the league.

His confidence is sky high
I mean it has to be, right? He has a swagger when he plays, and he’s not afraid of the big moments. Danny Ainge was roasted when he drafted Rozier at 16 a few years back, but I don’t think even Danny knew what Rozier could turn into.
Brad Stevens is a huge part of this, obviously. Coaching is so incredibly important at any point in an athlete’s career, but probably more so in the beginning. When a guy enters the NBA, having a stable coach who can really show you the game from different angles can make a huge difference someone’s career.
Rozier has had the benefit of playing with Isaiah Thomas and Kyrie Irving, both guys who have done some great things in a Celtics uniform. He’s learned a lot about being a point guard and we’re finally seeing it play out.

You have to think that’s why the Celtics were okay with Irving getting minor knee surgery, it’s because they have the upmost confidence in Rozier heading into the playoffs. He can help lead this team in the first round.
