Boston Bruins: B’s manage to get a point in Philly
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins came down to Earth on Sunday. The B’s looked tired but were able to secure a point against the Flyers.
You have to give this team credit. You can never count them out of a game. The Boston Bruins were chasing the Philadelphia Flyers for 2 and a half periods. The B’s were playing the second half of a back to back and you could see it on the ice. Then in the third period, the Bruins were able to make a comeback and forced the game to go to overtime. Long story, short, Brad Marchand did not save the day and the Bruins lost 4-3.
The Grinders
It wasn’t a pretty start to the game for the B’s. The Flyers were able to get the lead halfway through the first period and would be ahead until four seconds left in the game. The Bruins first goal of the game didn’t come until late in the 2nd period.
David Backes was in front of the net and made a great feed to Noel Acciari who roofed it for his 9th goal of the season. Backes had a great game assisting on two goals. He hasn’t missed a step since returning from his scary leg injury.

Also, another grinder made a great play. Claude Giroux and Travis Konecny had a 2-0 break. It looked like an easy goal, but out of nowhere Adam McQuaid dove and disrupted the play. These are the types of plays that remind you of McQuaid’s value to the team.
“Bergy” comes up clutch
If you need a goal, one of your first calls should be Patrice Bergeron. “Bergy” has had plenty of clutch performances in his career with the Bruins. He added another one on Sunday.
The net was empty, and the Bruins were fighting for puck possession. The Flyers had plenty of opportunities to get the puck out but were unsuccessful thanks to great plays by Marchand and David Krejci.
The puck ended up on Bergeron’s stick, and he blasted a shot by Petr Mrazek. Bergeron has had an awesome season, even with all of his injuries. He now has 30 goals this season, and now all of the members of the first line have 30 goals. David Pastrnak and Marchand are great by themselves, but with Bergeron they play at an entirely different level.
An important point
Even though the Boston Bruins lost, the point that they were able to get was very important. They are now two points ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning with 4 games left. Every point counts, and now that the Bruins are in first I really want them to get home ice.
Next: Welcome back Jake DeBrusk
The Bruins next game is very important so they better rest up. They play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday in what could be considered a must-win game. If the Bruins are able to get the W they will most likely secure home ice.
