Boston Celtics: Why team has no chance without Kyrie Irving
By Tom Dufton
The injury’s have been piling up all season for the Boston Celtics. It has now claimed it’s latest victim…Kyrie Irving
On Thursday, news came out that Kyrie Irving will not be returning for the rest of the season, including the playoffs for the Boston Celtics.
Originally fans were told he would be back for the second round of playoffs, but after getting the screws removed, he is sidelined for the rest of the season.
With Kyrie Irving out, It’s going to be a long road to end. Can they do it?
The Celtics are currently on a minor slide, losing their last two games to the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. What concerns me is that both of those teams are contenders in the East, especially with the Raptors being at the top.
If you look the schedule for the 2017-18 season, you can see the Celtics wins and losses this season. Let’s take a look at their last 4 games. the record is 2-2 and they faced the Utah Jazz, Raptors , Bucks and Raptors again. Now that is impressive. To take two wins from these games when the Boston Celtics were so short-handed is impressive. But that’s the regular season.

In playoffs what works once, probably won’t work the second time. Sure, Brad Stevens can start Kadeem Allen all he wants, and maybe that will work for the first game, but that wouldn’t last long. Teams adjust to the plans that other teams in the playoffs.
The playoffs will not go as planned. Celtics fans should lower expectations
When Gordon Hayward got injured, fans were worried about where the Celtics were going to end up. When they ended up in second place thanks to Kyrie Irving having a great season, fans got excited again.
Then more injuries occurred to Jaylen Brown, Daniel Theis and others. But now this is the cherry on top of the terrible, terrible ice cream all these injuries are there.
With Kyrie Irving out, my take is that the Celtics will not go far in playoffs. As it stands today, they would match up with the Wizards. They have two very good guards (John Wall and Bradley Beal) who would give this depleted Boston Celtics team serious trouble.
