Boston Celtics rookie, Daniel Theis became a fan favorite in 2018 and will hopefully build off a good start to his career.

Daniel Theis was a pleasure to watch last season. It seemed like the Boston Celtics rookie could come off the bench and reenergize the entire squad. Theis came out of nowhere last season and will look to proves he isn’t just a flash in the pan.

Theis made the jump to the NBA from Germany in 2018. NBA fans knew nothing about him. All you could see of him was random YouTube clips, but Danny Ainge believed in him and signed him.

More from Boston Celtics

Theis didn’t let Ainge down. The stat line shows that Theis averaged 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. That may seem like nothing, but Theis had impressive games. After witnessing Theis’s double-double against the Sacramento Kings in person, I instantly fell in love with him. You can see the intensity he plays with and he never gives up. Theis is also a solid shooter, especially for a big man. He shot over 50% from the field and 31% from behind the arc.

Theis is being overshadowed by the returns of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward (rightfully so). Still, I expect him to have a big impact. Theis will be coming off of the bench, but he will be near the top of the Celtics rotation. Theis, Terry Rozier, and Marcus Morris will prove to be a strong bench unit.

2019 will be the year that Daniel Theis proves that he is here to stay.
