The New England Patriots have a new defensive coordinator and he is already getting praised by players and some media members.

New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores has some big shoes to fill. Matt Patricia became a cult hero in New England. He had many iconic photos with his clipboard and pencil in his ear.

During OTA’s Flores received praise from players who loved his aggressive philosophy and it appears that Flores has another fan in former Patriot Willie McGinest.

"“He’s a guy who comes through scouting, so he’s able to evaluate those players and put them in certain situations — and that changes from week to week, those assignments, that game plan, everything changes,” McGinest said of Flores. “He’s been in the system long enough to understand how to do that and maneuver. And the other thing is, you heard about the aggressive part, well those are players that want to be aggressive. They play a lot of different positions at the linebacker, at the defensive end, those guys move around a lot. So those guys want to get to the quarterback and do things outside of what they normally do as well.”"

When you are in New England as long as Flores you are bound to know a lot about the game of football. Flores letting players be aggressive will be fun to watch. The Patriots struggled to get to the quarterback so hopefully Flores can change that.

What will Flores defense look like?

It will be interesting to see Flores’s new defense in action. We will probably see more safety blitzes as well as Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy attacking the quarterback.

Maybe the Patriots will have a defense that strikes fear in opponents this season.

Deatrich Wise and Trey Flowers were the Patriots best pass rushers. If they have some help getting to the quarterback they may have even better seasons. The lineman will also be competing with Adrian Clayborn who had 9.5 sacks last season.

If the defense is as aggressive as Flores wants it to be the Patriots secondary will be tested greatly. The Patriots are without Malcolm Butler and will now be relying on Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty as the top corners.

Next: Julian Edelman may have himself a case

Flores seems to be making waves at Patriots practices. Hopefully Flores will deliver and make the New England Patriots defense a threat once again.
