With all the question marks at wide receiver, the New England Patriots should give Dez Bryant an opportunity to prove he is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.

Dez Bryant has been a free agent for two months now. That is pretty shocking since he can put up some insane numbers. At one point Bryant was regarded as one of the best wideouts in the NFL. With Bryant not biting on any deals, the New England Patriots should throw their name into the hat.

Last season Bryant put up some quality numbers. He had 69 receptions with 838 yards and 6 touchdowns. These may seem like good numbers for other receivers, but they are just okay for Bryant. 2014 was his best season when he had 88 catches for 1320 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Patriots need some help

The Patriots wide receiving corps has been shaken up after the Julien Edelman news. They may be without their No.1 wideout for the first 4 games. The Patriots have a ton of decent wideouts, but no one can turn it up a notch like Bryant. Chris Hogan is serviceable, Jordan Matthews is alright, and Malcolm Mitchell still seems to be dealing with his knee injury.

More from New England Patriots

Bryant could add a new aspect to the Patriots offense.  He is one of the best deep ball threats in the NFL. Tom Brady found success with Brandin Cooks last season, but Bryant is 4 inches taller. Some of the balls that may have been out of reach for Cooks will probably be catchable for Bryant.

Bryant may seem like a head case, but the Patriots have proved that they can work with big egos before. Randy Moss revitalized his career while in New England, breaking records with Brady.

Dez Bryant may seem like more of a problem than a solution, but if he signs with the Patriots he could get a ring and prove to the league that he is still the same great wide receiver that he was in 2014.
