4. Rex Burkhead

Rex Burkhead will likely get the majority of the carries. Mike Gillislee is coming off a less than stellar season where he had issues holding onto the ball. All signs point to Burkhead being the first down back thus garnering the No. 4 spot.

Burkhead is a dual threat so he is getting you points for catching the ball and running it. He ran for 264 yards, and 5 touchdowns while catching 30 balls for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Burkhead will be sharing the running load with rookie Sony Michel, but since he is a threat coming out of the backfield he will probably be the highest scoring New England Patriots running back.

In his rather limited role last season, Burkhead was still able to put up some big points scoring 38 points in weeks 12 and 13.

If Burkhead can hold on to the ball and gain Bill Belichick’s trust he can put up some big numbers this fantasy season. He is currently projected to garner 142.5 fantasy points and is ranked 24th among running backs. Burkhead could have one of the best seasons of his career this year.

If you are looking for a running back and are at the bottom of the draft order, Burkhead would be a solid pickup.
