Boston Bruins 3rd round pick Jakub Lauko is ready to make a name for himself with the black and gold.

You may not have heard of Jakub Lauko before Saturday, but the 18-year-old was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 3rd round of the 2018 NHL Draft, and you should keep an eye on him.

Lauko hails from the Czech Republic. He is a 6′ forward who has some great speed. The Bruins are really lucky to have grabbed him. He is a two-way forward who can use his speed to break into the zone and make some plays. Don Sweeney must have had hearts coming out of his eyes reading this scouting report of Lauko.

"“Brings likable work ethic and attitude to the ice, with his outstanding acceleration and straight line speed he’s a real threat on the rush,”"

Lauko also seems to have a winning attitude. When speaking to the media he said that he believes he is “the steal of the draft” and that he wants to prove to all the teams that passed on him that they made a mistake. Lauko seems motivated and is saying all of the right things.

Boston Bruins Assistant GM Scott Bradley was also surprised that Lauko was there in the 3rd round.

"“We had him on our list, he was a first-round pick,” Bradley said. “We’re ecstatic to get a player like this at that point in the draft. He’s fast. Energy, plays with a lot of character, willing to sacrifice, and this player can really shoot the puck. “His best asset might be his speed. So, we’re excited to have this player. We’re looking forward to development camp. He’s going to come in and hopefully turn some heads.”"

There may be some time before Lauko plays with the big boys in the NHL but he is definitely a guy to watch down in Providence.
