More Sale dominance

Back to Chris Sale.

More from Chowder and Champions

The Boston Red Sox ace was simply amazing and the team needed it.  On a summer day at Fenway park, he brought the heat and Seattle’s Mike Zunino experienced that heat.  Not only did he see a 100.4 mph pitch in the fifth inning, he struck out on a 100.5 mph pitch at his next at-bat and Sale’s final strikeout of the day in his 13 K performance.  In all, it was his second consecutive double-digit strikeout performance in which is strength and velocity is increasing.

While the strikeout count has been impressive, the rhythm on the mound Sale highlighted has been the main reason for his success.  It also helps when he has the run support he received in Sunday afternoon’s 5-0 victory.

"“I’ll take five every time out,” Sale said following the game.  “I’m not worried about it.  Throughout the scale of a whole year, it’s all going to even out.  There’s going to be days where they score five and I give up six, and vice versa.  It’s a give-and-take game.  I have faith in my guys, I know how hard they work, I know the work they put in.  I just try to roll with it.”"

Roll with it is exactly what Chris Sale did at Fenway Park on a summer afternoon in June.  For the Boston Red Sox, this hopefully ignites a starting rotation that has seen some struggles over the past few games.
