Keion Crossen may be a late-round draft pick from a small school, but he has been turning heads ever since he joined the New England Patriots.

Keion Crossen probably wasn’t a name that you have heard of. He played for Western Carolina an FCS school who isn’t exactly known for cranking out NFL talent, but ever since he was drafted by the New England Patriots, Crossen has been turning heads.

Crossen is a quality corner. During his 4 years at Western Carolina, he had 165 tackles, 19 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions.

Now with the team gone for a mini summer vacation, Crossen has decided to stay in Foxboro to continue to work on his game.

More from Chowder and Champions

"I’m comfortable around the stadium; that’s where I’m most relaxed,” Crossen said Wednesday following an autograph session at the Sports International Football Academy in Lowell. “If I need to work film study, I can work film study. If I need to do field work, I can do field work and not have to worry about going to a high school. I have access to everything that I need.”"

This is exactly what you want to see from rookies. Crossen is clearley dedicated and wants to make an impact in his first season. This type of attitude can get you places. Especially in New England.

Crossen hasn’t been with the team that long and already has some accomplishments to write home about.

At practice, Crossen was a superstar. It seemed that no quarterback could complete a pass and he even had an interception. He was widely regarded as one of the early standouts so far this offseason.

Someone to watch

With everything we have seen from Crossen, he has a good chance to make the final roster. He seems to be the perfect Patriot.

The Patriots secondary struggled in the Super Bowl so fans will be expecting an improved defensive unit next season. Crossen seems like he could be a solid third corner.

It won’t be easy, but it wouldn’t be the first time a no-name corner becomes a star on the New England Patriots, and it appears that Crossen has the right mindset to have an impressive rookie season.
