Fantasy Football drafts are starting, and the New England Patriots have many incredible players. If you want to get them you may have to take some risks.

Fantasy football is one of the great things about life. We get to pretend to be GM’s and try to take a team we created all the way to the championship. The New England Patriots have plenty of top fantasy players. With such a high powered offense they can put up some big numbers in fantasy.

With my fantasy draft taking place on Sunday, I thought I would share some of the takeaways. Some of the results are surprising and some are expected.

Now every league is different, so results may vary, but here are three takeaways from my fantasy draft.

(Also for reference purposes, my league is a 14 team PPR league.)

Rob Gronkowski will dominate

There are some questions about Rob Gronkowski this season. He considered retiring after the Super Bowl, and his motivation has been questioned.

Gronkowski is coming off another great season. He had 69 catches for 1084 yards and 8 touchdowns. He averaged 16.1 points in PPR leagues last season and will look to be even better.

In my league’s draft, Gronkowski went in the top 10 (7th overall to be exact). Gronkowski is a unique case. Taking a tight end would seem crazy before Gronkowski was in the league. He is such a unique talent and is the focal point of the Patriots passing game. Gronkowski is a great red zone threat and also can make some big plays in the open field.

It seems that ESPN believes Gronkowski will have a solid season as he is currently projected to put up 256 points in my league.

You can’t really go wrong drafting Gronkowski. With Julian Edelman being out for 4 games, he will get even more targets. It seems like Gronkowski will be primed to have yet another great fantasy season.
