A true star

Kyrie Irving is the first star to be in Boston since the big 3. Isaiah Thomas may have been a great player, but he isn’t someone you build your franchise around.

With Irving on the Celtics they have their franchise player. I definitely wouldn’t mind having Irving on the Celtics for the rest of his career.

Kyrie is obviously a great player on the court, but he is also a great asset off the court. He can help you bring superstars to Boston. Without Irving you lose that building block. Players aren’t going to be mortgaging their future to play with Gordon Hayward (no offense Gordon).

If the Celtics want to win a championship they need Irving. He takes the pressure off of his teammates with his tremendous skill and is a franchise player. The Celtics wouldn’t be the same if Irving left.

dark. Next. Big market competition in store for Kyrie Irving

The Celtics have young talent, but they need someone to look up to and lead them to the promise land. Hayward isn’t a franchise player, and Al Horford is nearing retirement. So whether you like it or not the Celtics need to re-sign Kyrie Irving.
