Aron Baynes has fallen in love with Boston and wants to help the Boston Celtics win their 18th championship in franchise history.

Most NBA free agents are searching to secure the most money as possible. With a short window to make their life earnings, you can’t really blame them. Boston Celtics Center Aron Baynes is a special case.

Baynes had the opportunity to head elsewhere or even join the Golden State Warriors if that’s what he desired (everyone seems to want to play there), but Baynes wanted to stay in Boston and bring home a championship.

"“I didn’t talk to anyone else because I knew that this was where I wanted to be. Like I said, this felt unfinished last year,” Baynes told Boston Sports Journal’s Brian Robb. “The goal coming back is we know exactly where we want to be and what it’s going to take. It’s about trying to get there and both parties saw that. Hopefully, we can help each other attain that ultimate goal.”"

Baynes became a fan favorite in Boston rather quickly. He may not be the prettiest player, but he is great in the paint. When you add Tommy Heinsohn’s love for the big man it is hard to dislike Baynes.

He clearly loves being in Boston and believes the team is capable of winning a championship.

Baynes played a large role on last years team. He started in 67 games and averaged 6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Baynes was great on defense and also improved on offense. Baynes worked hard on his perimeter shooting and is looking to evolve as a player.

It is commonplace nowadays to see center’s throwing up 3-pointers. Baynes realized that he needs to become a better shooter if he wants to stay in the league.

Baynes is slated to still be an important part of the Celtics squad. I don’t think he will be in the starting five as much, but Baynes will be a key part of the C’s second unit.

Aron Baynes became beloved in Boston in his first season with the team. If he is able to help the Celtics get to the NBA Finals, he will be feeling the love even more last season.
