Danny Shelton

Sometimes a new environment and a winning atmosphere can help a player as talented as defensive tackle Danny Shelton put it all together.

The New England Patriots are certainly hoping Shelton becomes the player he was projected to be when he was drafted high in the first round by the Cleveland Browns.

Acquired in an offseason trade with the Browns, the 24-year-old mammoth defensive tackle is hoping to find a niche with a team looking to get tougher against the run.  Standing at 6-foot-2, 345 pounds, Shelton has both the size and versatility to flourish in the Patriots system.

So far during training camp, he looks to be adjusting well.  If that continues, there is no reason Danny Shelton can’t be a force in the middle of the defensive line.  Given the fact that his is a fresh start for the University of Washington product, the renewed excitement he has for the game should translate into an energy of success.

"“I’m excited to be here, really,” Shelton said, via the Providence Journal.  “It’s another opportunity.  Another reason.  I’m blessed to be out here, competing.”"

Overall, Shelton will be vying for playing time in the middle of the defensive line along with Malcom Brown and Lawrence Guy.  With his size, talent and excitement, 2019 could be the season he anchors the Patriots defense and reminds fans of that man named Vince Wilfork.
