With the New England Patriots needing a boost at wide receiver they should give Josh Gordon a chance.

The Josh Gordon story isn’t an uplifting one. Well at least for now. Gordon has proven he is a great receiver but has off the field issues. Still, I think the New England Patriots should sign Gordon.

Now there is no doubt that Gordon is in a rough spot. He has been suspended numerous times by the NFL for failing drug tests and had to take some time to handle his life off the field.

This season everything was looking great. Gordon seemed to be back and more focused than ever. He handled his issues off the field and looked like he was going to have a breakout season.

Then all of a sudden everything changed.

The Cleveland Browns announced their plans to release Gordon and brought the NFL world to a frenzy. What did Gordon do? Did he relapse? (According to Ian Rapaport the answer is no.)

Well, it appears that Gordon showed up to the Browns facility late on Saturday after attending a promotional shoot where he ended up getting hurt.

The Browns are looking for trade partners before they are forced to release him on Monday. They want to trade him out of the AFC so it seems like the only way he would end up in New England is if he was released by the team.

So even though these reasons may have you wanting to stay away from Gordon, here are 3 reasons the Patriots should sign him.
