Tom Brady wanted more James White and he got it the last two weeks as the New England Patriots have scored 38 points in back-to-back victories.

James White doesn’t put fear into opposing defenses on the ground, but in the passing game he has become one of Tom Brady’s most reliable weapons.  In the New England Patriots 38-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts Thursday night, the pass catching running back was in the middle of things once again.

The Wisconsin product had zero yards rushing, but his 10 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown proved just way Brady called for more of him in the offensive game plan.

With Julian Edelman back and doing his thing along with Rob Gronkowski on the field, James White is just that more effective.  The last two weeks have been proof of that. Having a quarterback like Tom Brady distributing the ball is not too shabby either.

More from Chowder and Champions

"“He does a great job distributing the ball around and throwing to who’s open,” White said following Thursday night’s win.  “There are a lot of guys involved in the game, so that’s what it’s going to take to win.”"

The New England Patriots do suddenly have a lot of weapons, but that means nothing if they don’t make plays.  James White makes plays.  Brady trusts him, relies on him and looks his way when a play needs to be made.

Although the two did leave a big passing play on the field when Brady just barely overshot White deep along the sideline, the fact that the play was available shows just how dynamic a passing threat White is.

While he doesn’t scare anyone in the running game, he does have the ability to break off a big run or two.  He showed that last week against the Miami Dolphins.  He has also showcased his ability to fight for tough yards with his game-winning rushing touchdown in Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons.

All in all, James White is not the fastest or quickest player, but the sweetness of his feet in the open field makes him one of the best pass-catching running backs Tom Brady has had and there are a long list of them.

Kevin Faulk, Danny Woodhead, Shane Vereen, Dion Lewis and now White, who is proving to be the most important to Brady.

Tom Brady gets 500

Another game, another milestone reached for the great Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots quarterback throw his 500th touchdown in the 38-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts and it came at just the right time.

With Andrew Luck clicking and getting Indianapolis back in the game, the Patriots needed a big drive and they got it.  Up just 24-17, Brady threw for touchdown No. 500 on a nice deep touchdown pass to Josh Gordon.  With shades of Randy Moss, Gordon jumped over two defenders to make the score 31-17.

With the touchdown Gordon became yet another player in the long list of playmakers who have caught touchdown passes from the great one.  Following the game, Brady talked about the milestone and how each player throughout the years has been a part of the feat.

"“Well, I think all these things like that, milestones and so forth, there are so many people that contribute,” Brady said.  “So, I just think of all the people that have really worked hard.  You know, a quarterback doesn’t throw them to himself.  He needs people to catch them and block and defenses make plays and coaches coach.  These are all great team awards.  So, pretty cool.”"
