Homecoming weekend descends upon Alumni Stadium as the Boston College Eagles play host to the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.

A big second-half for the Boston College Eagles last week at N.C. State nearly led to a comeback win. The Eagles ran out of time and were handed their first loss in ACC play.

Boston College hopes this week they can take care of business right from the get-go.

The Eagles (4-2, 1-1) play host to the Louisville Cardinals (2-4, 0-3) in hopes of duplicating last season’s victory. Boston College defeated Louisville 45-42, starting off a stretch run in which the Eagles won five of their last seven games.

AJ Dillon had 272 yards and four touchdowns in last season’s game. The victory truly marked the arrival of Dillon, who would go on to finish with a stellar freshman season.

Dillon is still day-to-day with an injury he suffered in the Temple game. Whoever lines up in the backfield for Boston College will look to take advantage of a weak Louisville run defense. The Cardinals allow 231 rushing yards per game and have allowed all but one opponent to run for at least 150 yards.

In replacing a legend in quarterback and 2016 Heisman winner Lamar Jackson, the Cardinals have struggled on the offensive side. They are putting up only 20.5 points per game while allowing 32.7. Things have been better the last two weeks, but Louisville is mired in a three-game losing streak.

Even with Louisville in rebuilding mode, the Eagles shouldn’t expect a cakewalk this Saturday.
