Boston College Eagles

Clemson has one of the nation’s top-ranked defenses and it showed last Saturday against Boston College. Even if Brown had remained in the game, the Eagles would have found points hard to come by.

It’s possible the Eagles will again be without Brown for the Florida State game. He’s still dealing with his abdominal injury, meaning EJ Perry would be in line to start.

More from College Sports

With that in mind, Perry has seen more work with the first team during practice this week. The sophomore was 12-21 for 98 yards against the Tigers.

Perry has a style very similar to Brown’s and had a couple of nice runs last game.

With a full week of first-team practice under his belt, expect a better performance if Perry gets the start.

The status of who will start at quarterback is unknown, meaning more pressure will fall on the shoulders of the running game. Dillon was bottled up last week, but has totaled 936 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns in 2018.

Though dinged up and dealing with his high-ankle sprain, Dillon should be able to duplicate his performance from last year’s game against the Seminoles. He ran for 149 yards and a score in that game.

The defense will be relied on to duplicate their performance from last season’s game as well. They limited the Seminoles to 213 total yards in the victory.

Zach Allen and company turned in a more-than-decent performance against the Tigers. Allen spent a fair amount of time in the Clemson backfield, helping disrupt throws and getting to quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Allen’s senior season has seen him make 50 tackles, collect 5.5 sacks and nail down 13.5 tackles-for-loss.

Hamp Cheevers also had his sixth interception of the season in last week’s game.
