The New England Patriots (7-3) return from the bye week to take on the New York Jets (3-7) Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.

The New England Patriots and New York Jets are two teams coming off embarrassing losses and a bye week to correct things. On paper, this should be a complete road blowout by the Patriots, but given the team’s recent struggles on the road, this one could turn out to be a classic AFC East dogfight.

With the Patriots coming in as only nine-point favorites, it shows that Vegas is weary of the team’s recent performances on the road as well.

If there is ever a silver lining to an embarrassing loss like the one the Patriots suffered at the hands of the Tennessee Titans is that it wakes up a team still searching for an identity this season.

All the way around, this New England Patriots team needs to improve.  Having a bye week allowed them to get healthy.  That should help. But overall, it is the execution that needs to be on point.  Tom Brady admitted he needs to be better and spread the ball around more.

He should have some help doing so with the return of Rob Gronkowski.  The big tight end, who has missed the last two games due to back issues, is expected to play on Sunday.  Along with a healthier Sony Michel, Brady will have his full array of weapons to go against a Jets team that is one big loss away from a head coach change.

While the offense has to be more consistent, the New England Patriots are also looking for improved play by the defensive unit and on special teams.  Both have been areas of concern throughout the season, particularly on the road.

The good news for the Patriots is that there is no coach better than making corrections than Bill Belichick.  The only question is whether he has the talent to do so.

Guess we’ll start to find that out Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Week 12 Prediction:

For the first time all season, the New England Patriots will enter the game relatively healthy.  With his full complement of weapons, Tom Brady should silence the critics in this game.

Although he typically struggles against New York Jets defenses, Brady finds a way in this game to move the ball consistently.  With Sony Michel in the backfield and Rob Gronkowski returning from injury, the running game as well as the short passing game will frustrate a young, but talented Jets’ defense.

With multiple touchdown passes, Tom Brady will lead the Patriots to a 31-10 victory over the New York Jets.  Coming off a bye week, the team will show improvements in all three phrases of the game.
