FanSided Fandom 250: New England Patriots ranked below Buffalo Bills
On the verge of clinching their 10th consecutive AFC East title, the New England Patriots rank No. 67 in FanSided Fandom 250.
Sometimes winning doesn’t mean everything. For the fans of the New England Patriots, sustaining that winning has become everything over the past two decades. That’s why the team’s No. 67 ranking in the FanSided Fandom 250 is way too low!
It is those expectations of winning that has made the Patriots fanbase the most annoying fans for other fanbases. Then, again, that’s what bragging rights do. When a team wins five Super Bowls in eight appearances since the new millennium, any fan who endured decades of losing has earned a right to gloat.
For us fans who were born before 1990 who stuck with the team when they barely won one game in a season and witnessed an undefeated regular season in 2007, watching a team transcend into one of the winningest franchises in NFL history is something to take pride in.

While it is shocking to barely make the Top 10 in FanSided Fandom 250 amongst NFL teams, the end result of the NFL season is what Patriots fans care about the most. It’s all about winning championships in New England.
Sure, Gillette Stadium is no Arrowhead, but teams tend to fade when stepping on the field. That has a lot to do with the intimidation of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, but the fans play their role and they know their football. They travel well with the team. From Buffalo to Mexico City, the New England Patriots always have a sea of blue and white jerseys throughout stadiums.
Ranking below the Buffalo Bills
And speaking of Buffalo, how in the world do the Patriots rank behind a team that they have dominated for so long. Given that the Buffalo Bills haven’t seen playoff success since their four straight Super Bowl losses in the 90s, the fact fans still pack the stadium and are loyal to their team is much to give credit to.
Patriots fans have been there and perhaps when Tom Brady retires at the great age of 55, they may be there again. But, at the moment, no other fanbase has gone through scandals and the hypertension of high-pressure games every season.
No other fanbase has to subject to the Patriot Way on a yearly basis. And no other fanbase has to be submissive and believe in the “In Bill We Trust” mantra every offseason when star players leave for greater contracts.
For those reasons alone, the New England Patriots should be ranked at least in the Top 3. But, then again, the greatest joy for these fans are celebrating with the team in championship parades through the streets of Boston.
