2B – Brian Dozier

Sticking with the theme of second basemen, Dave Dombrowski could find the next Red Sox second basemen in 31-year-old Brian Dozier.

Dozier could provide a veteran presence to the clubhouse that the Sox could use. With a young core, the more veterans the better, as Boston will look to defend their title next season.

More from Boston Red Sox

Now, Dozier was just traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline this past season.

In the World Series against the Boston Red Sox, he went 0-5 with 3 walks and scored 2 runs, not the greatest audition on the biggest stage, but some team will definitely go after him, it should be the Red Sox.

Dozier is a career .246 hitter with 172 HR and 511 RBI. 2016 and 2017 were his best statistical seasons yet, as he bashed 42 HR with 99 RBI in ’16 and 34 HR for 93 RBI in ’17.

The righty could easily provide at least 20 HR in this Boston lineup, taking some of the pressure off the likes of J.D. Martinez and Mookie Betts.

The second basemen is coming off a 2018 year where he made $9 million in salary, so he will probably demand a long-term contract as he looks to come to the end of his career. Dombrowski was familiar with him from his days in the AL Central with the Detroit Tigers, let’s hope he at least takes a look at the veteran this offseason.
