The Boston Bruins and the NWHL’s Boston Pride announced their new partnership which is great for the game of hockey.

Some hockey fans may not know this, but the Boston Bruins aren’t the only professional hockey team in the city.

The Boston Pride are part of the “Founding Four” franchises when the NWHL was founded back in 2015. This league is a big deal. It is the first professional hockey league for women in North America.

The Pride play their games at Warrior Ice Arena, the practice rink for the Boston Bruins, but now the team’s have announced a more official partnership.

Having an NHL team attached to a NWHL team isn’t a foreign concept. They are the 4th team in the NHL to do so. The Bruins appear to be helping the Pride in marketing and player development as well as youth hockey initiatives.

The Bruins are kicking off the partnership at the Pride’s next home game with the first 500 fans getting a cobranded Bruins & Pride beanie and the Bruins mascot Blades will be in attendance dropping the ceremonial puck drop.

I am really happy to see the Boston Bruins partner with the Pride. Hockey is a game for everyone and this shows the Bruins commitment towards spreading the game. Hopefully one day the NWHL will have a roster of teams rivaling the NHL.

The Boston Pride and the Boston Bruins are two teams with a winning history. The Pride won the 2015-16 Isobel Cup which is their version of the Stanley Cup. The trophy is actually named after Lord Stanley’s daughter, Isobel, who is known to be one of the first female hockey players in North America.
