After another disappointing loss, Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving was very critical of his teammate’s performance this season.

This Boston Celtics season sure has been interesting. After exceeding expectations last year, this season has been difficult to say the least.

It is clear that the Celtics have some great talent. Kyrie Irving is capable of taking over games and has been Boston’s star this season. Irving is averaging 22.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.8 rebounds a game.

Now some other guys have had some great performances as well. Jayson Tatum continues to establish himself as one of the top young players in the game today, and Marcus Morris is having the season of his life. Morris is averaging 15.6 points, and 6 rebounds a game which would be career highs.

Overall this Celtics season seems like a disappointment so far. Boston was supposed to dominate the Eastern Conference. Now they are struggling to stay at the top.

It appears that Kyrie Irving isn’t happy with the Celtics performance this season as he went off in the media after a brutal loss to the Orlando Magic.

"“The young guys don’t know what it takes to be a championship level team. What it takes every day. And if they think it is hard now, what do they think it will be like when we’re trying to get to the Finals? There were no expectations last year. Everyone played free and easy. Everyone surpassed whatever they expected for themselves. This year? We all have high expectations. The players, the coaches, everyone. And that’s good, but we aren’t doing it yet. We can get there. We’ve got to be better. I’ve got to be better. We need to win these games on the road. That’s on me as a leader. I need to be a better leader and to help get us there.”"

I think this shows how Kyrie has evolved as a player on and off the court. This is Kyrie Irving’s team. He is the leader without a doubt. These comments after the game prove so.

This isn’t Irving saying that he is perfect and all the problems are on his teammates. Irving is just telling these younger guys that winning a championship isn’t a walk in the park.

I think some of the younger players may have bought into the hype the media was feeding them in the offseason. It seemed like Boston had clinched the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference simply by stepping on the court. We have seen that things aren’t that easy.

With all the talent on this Boston Celtics team, they shouldn’t be losing two straight games to teams like the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic. Boston’s last two losses are unacceptable and makes Boston look like a team that will be on vacation very early on in the playoffs.
