Patriots Gridiron News: Super Bowl LIII will not be Tom Brady’s swan song
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has made it clear once again that he is not retiring after the season ends.
Tired of seeing Tom Brady win football games? Too bad. The New England Patriots quarterback has shouted that he is “still here” and has made it clear once again that he is not going anywhere.
Unless some injury occurs that knocks him out of the game for good, Brady plans on sticking around even if he wins a sixth Super Bowl championship. It would actually be a great way to go out. If he leads his team to a victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII, why not go out victorious?
Well, this is Tom Brady we are talking about and you see, this man loves proving everyone wrong.

Following a regular season in which every media critic came out of the woodwork to proclaim his demise as well as the end of the great New England Patriots dynasty, the “baddest motherf—-er on the planet” has shown just that in defeats over the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. With three game-winning drives in the AFC Championship game alone, the man still has it and is ready for more.
In an interview with ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, Tom Brady put any questions on whether Super Bowl LIII will be his last game as a professional to rest. Haters are frowning and Patriots fans continue to smile with glee.
So, here’s what TB12 had to say:
"“There’s zero [chance I retire after the game]. I have said that for a long time. I feel like I am asked that a lot and I feel like I repeat the same answer, but no one wants to believe me.”"
Well Tom, there were points prior to the season and during the same when you didn’t seem as motivated and driven like you typically do. There were some pretty un-Bradly like decisions during the season that would make even the greatest believers in your fountain of youth start to wonder.
Maybe that is a reason or maybe it was your own words during your docuseries “Tom vs. Time” that had fans guessing on whether the end was near quicker than what everyone, including yourself wanted to believe. But you, Tom Brady, still has a goal to accomplish besides hoisting another Lombardi Trophy and adding a ring to you other hand.
"“I have set a goal for myself at 45 and like I said before, it is very hard to make it that far,” Brady added. “I know how hard it was this year and the commitment it takes. Hopefully I have learned from some of the things that happened this year to be better next year. But, every year is tough.”"
After throwing for over 500 yards in a losing effort in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles, who knows the kind of performance he puts forth in Super Bowl LIII against a very stout Los Angeles Rams defensive front.
One thing we know, Tom Brady won’t be the reason they lose.
As for the New England Patriots and their future at quarterback, Brady’s commitment at least gives the team time to mold the next franchise quarterback using the future Hall-of-Famer as a teacher.
