New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is not just competitive on the football field, he is competitive in life.

When it comes to life, Tom Brady has overcome many odds to become the legend he is today.  On the football field, the New England Patriots quarterback continues to lean on his competitiveness to achieve NFL record after NFL record and it also shows off the field.

Just a week after winning his sixth Super Bowl title and solidifying himself as one of the greatest athletes to ever compete, a little story spilled from one of golf’s top players about just how competitive Brady is.

Appearing on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Jordan Spieth recalled a two-on-two match against Brady at the Augusta National.  A big Tom Brady fan, Spieth shared his experience winning a round against a player as competitive as the 41-year-old master of Father Time.

"“We had a two-on-two match and ended up birdieing the 18th,” Spieth said, as transcribed by Boston.com.  “He had a stroke on the 18th.  I hit it in there to a few feet, and he drove it up almost too close to the green and tried to hit a flop shot, left it in the bunker, made bogey.  The match was tied, so I won.  He made bogey, I made birdie for a two-shot flip on the last. And you’re supposed to go in at Augusta and, you know, have lunch and hang out.  And he didn’t say a word to me for like an hour and a half.  I mean, the most competitive, like, I feel like I’m very, very competitive, and he is the most competitive human being I’ve ever met.”"

For a player who cringes when someone calls him the GOAT, this story shared by Jordan Spieth shows just how determined Tom Brady is to be the best that he can be in all facets of life.

A desire to win

And that desire to win is why Brady is challenging Father Time to be an effective NFL quarterback well into his 40s.

After winning six Super Bowl titles in nine appearances and achieving just about all he can achieve, walking away from the game should be easy for Brady.  But, it’s not.

There is still a desire burning in him and as long as that desire is there, he will try to play.  Given his lack of athleticism, the drive that the New England Patriots quarterback has is beyond measure.

In losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII and then having a less than desirable regular season for the most part, Brady took all the negative noise surrounding him and the team and used it as his motivation to prove he still has it and will have it when he enters the 2019 season as a 42-year-old quarterback.
