Boston Sports: 5 athletes worthy of lifetime deals
By Sam Minton
Kentucky just signed head coach John Calipari to a lifetime contract which got us thinking, are there any athletes in Boston sports that deserve such an honor?
A lifetime is a really long time. Offering someone a contract for that long seems like a big commitment but there are definitely some athletes in the Boston sports landscape that deserve the honor.
John Calipari won’t be on the hot seat for the rest of his career. The University of Kentucky signed him to a lifetime deal that will ensure he ends his career at the school.

It’s hard to argue against the move. Calipari helped bring the school to prominence with his great coaching and recruiting ability.
Calipari has Massachusetts connections. He started his career at UMass where he got the team ranked No.1 nationally.
Now even though this is quite the commitment there are definitely some Boston sports athletes who are worth the investment. These guys would just look weird in any other city.
Remember when Ray Bourque went to the Avalanche? That was just awful. What about when Paul Pierce was traded? That definitely helped the team but it was weird to see him in a jersey that isn’t green and white.
Some players are destined to play their entire careers with one team. They truly embrace the city where they play and become one of their own.
So here are the 5 athletes from the Boston sports world that deserve lifetime contracts. Let us know who you think deserves a lifetime deal in the comments below.
