EAST LANSING, MI – OCTOBER 20: Chase Winovich #15 (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) /

Pick No. 77- Chase Winovich (DE) Michigan. Draft Grade: A

This was my favorite pick of the draft for us. Being that Michigan games are usually on in a prominent time slot on national broadcasts, I got a chance to watch many Wolverine games. On the defensive side of the football beside Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick Devin Bush, the other player constantly getting his name called by the announcers was Chase Winovich.

Chase is the typical late round slide because he doesn’t have incredible measurables, but that fails to show how productive he was.

Last year in the Big Ten which is filled with elite offensive lines, Winovich was able to record 5 sacks to go along with 15.5 tackles for a loss. His stats don’t really do him justice, as he constantly got pressure on the QB and was able to blow up plays before they started.

He has great pass rush ability and actually recorded a faster 40 time at the combine than Williams. With the loss of Trey Flowers, the Patriots desperately needed to get a good pass rusher.

At pick 77 not only is Winovich an incredible value but someone that can play day 1 and make a serious impact. This was a fantastic pick.
