The New England Patriots boosted their front seven by acquiring Chase Winovich in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Pats fans are going to love this guy.

The New England Patriots needed some help at the front of their defense. The loss of Trey Flowers left a major hole in the team’s ability to get to quarterbacks and stop the run.

New England knew that they needed some help. That’s why they acquired Michael Bennett, but the team isn’t done yet. They drafted Chase Winovich in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

More from Chowder and Champions

Winovich is a guy you want on your team. He never gives up and is giving 150 percent on every play. Some scouts have even said that he plays like he has “zombie blood pumping through his veins.”

When watching film of Winovich he pops off the screen. You can see just how passionate and invested he is in each and every game.

At Michigan, Winovich was a beast. He stayed there for 4 seasons so he is well experienced ready to play in the NFL.

Winovich’s best season came in 2017 where he racked up 8.5 sacks and 73 tackles (19 for a loss). Winovich knows how to get in the backfield and make a play.

I can see Winovich playing a Rob Ninkovich role (not just because they have similar last names). He could be a stand-up rusher and use that tenacity to make a play in the backfield. Winovich does some experience in a three-point stance, but no matter where he is he will make an impact.

Next. Patriots need Tom Brady at OTA’s now more than ever. dark

I’m excited to see what Chase Winovich can do in New England. Draft experts are hailing this as one of the best picks the team has made in the draft. Hopefully he will make an impact immediately when the 2019 regular season begins.
