1. The top line needs to get on the board

The Patrice Bergeron line is the most important line on this Bruins team. The team almost relies on the success of their “Perfection Line”. Thankfully, the secondary scoring has stepped up in this playoff run; but we’ll get to that in a minute.

More from Chowder and Champions

Heading into the Stanley Cup Final, the top line has been dynamite. Patrice Bergeron had 8 goals and 5 assists for 13 points. Brad Marchand brought 7 goals and 11 assists for a team high 18 points.

David Pastrnak had 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points of his own. Combined, the Bruins’ top line had a whopping 22 goals, 24 assists for 46 points on 175 shots. Production like that is one of the reasons as to why the Bruins are still playing hockey.

The Final has been a completely different story. Marchand is the only member of the top line with a goal; his happened to be an empty netter at the end of Game 1. David Pastrnak has one assist that came on the opening goal in Game 2.

The top line has one goal, one assist and 17 shots in the two games played against the Blues so far. The Blues have done a very good job at shutting down one of the best lines in hockey.

If the Bruins are going to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup, the Bergeron line needs to step up. If they are unable to get anything going early on in Game 3, Cassidy should not be afraid to switch the lines up a little bit.

Oh, one more thing, they need to SHOOT THE PUCK!
