New England Patriots fans were hoping that there would still be a chance that Rob Gronkowski would return in 2019, but Gronk said that his career is over.

Even when Rob Gronkowski retired there was speculation that the move wasn’t permanent. Maybe he could end up returning to the New England Patriots? Well, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

The speculation is that Gronkowski would come back later in the season to help the Patriots make a run in the playoffs. This would save New England money and keep Gronkowski healthy.

But I am glad to see that Gronkowski is deciding to stay retired. If you are a fan of him you should be happy as well.

Gronkowski has gone through a lot in his career. He may have been an amazing player but he suffered a lot.

One of the main reasons that the New England Patriots were able to acquire Gronkowski was because of his injury history. Ever since college he was dealing with back problems. They followed him all the way until 2018.

If Gronkowski continued to play you would start to worry about his long term health. There is still a reason to worry.

You hope that all the hits that Gronkowski has taken won’t leave him struggling to walk or with CTE. So many former NFL players go down a dark road when they leave the league.

There really isn’t a reason for Gronkowski to come back. He has accomplished basically everything you could in a career.

In his 9 year career, Gronkowski had 521 receptions, 7,861 yards, and 79 touchdowns. He won 3 Super Bowls and went to the Pro Bowl 5 times.

Gronkowski will easily be regarded as the best tight end in NFL history. He flipped the position on its head.

So it is official Patriots fans. Don’t expect to see Rob Gronkowski in a Patriots uniform again.
