Boston Red Sox draft picks 2019: 3 players to watch in near future
With the 2019 MLB Draft over and done with, the Boston Red Sox have acquired some great prospects from across the nation.
The Boston Red Sox had a pretty strong 2019 draft overall despite not having a first-round draft pick. It didn’t seem to hurt them what so ever as they selected multiple prospects that will pan out as Red Sox success stories down the road for the organization.
Let’s take a look at the draft selections that are going to have the greatest impact in the long run for the Red Sox:

Cameron Cannon
In Cameron Cannon’s 2019 junior year campaign at Arizona through the vicious Pac-12, the man hit .397 with 29 doubles, 8 home runs, 56 RBIs, 71 runs scored, a .478 on-base percentage, and had a .909 fielding percentage.
Those 29 doubles, yeah they lead D1. That batting average you may ask?… Well that was ranked 2nd in the Pac-12.
This guy is exciting and seems like he’ll be able to turn over into a progressing young prospect for the Boston Red Sox. The biggest challenge for him is going to be able to produce as many extra bases and a high batting average as the pitching and competition only continue to grow as he moves forward.
His defense is rather flawless and it will pay great dividends in the future for him as he develops his offensive game to big league level. He may not end up being a shortstop, particularly to the ski skill of that position organization wide along with his offensive potential and upside needing to be on the lineup card.
