The Boston Bruins lost Game 7 and end their season in disappointment, but everything could have been different if there was competent officials on the ice.

Well this sucks. The Boston Bruins were the better team. They should have beaten the St.Louis Blues, but I guess that is why the games are played.

The Blues are your Stanley Cup champions and the Bruins had to watch a team lift the cup on their own ice yet again.

But things could have gone differently. Especially if the officiating crew actually did their jobs.

Now before I begin this in no way excuses the absence of the Bruins top 6 forwards. They evaporated into thin air. With that in mind it is fair to say that the officiating played way to big of a role in the series. The refs didn’t do their job.

From the start of the series you could see that things were different. A lot of questionable plays were being let go. In Game 2 we saw Matt Grzelcyk get drilled into the boards and it was only a 2 minute penalty. I’m pretty sure any other group of officials would have called a major.

Throughout the entire series the St. Louis Blues were taking runs at members of the Boston Bruins and the officials were doing nothing to stop it. It seemed like we were close to another Matt Cooke incident and seeing one of our beloved players knocked out cold on the ice.

There was one call that changed the course of the series. In Game 5 the refs blew a clear tripping call that took Noel Acciari out of the play and the Blues would go on to score and make the game 2-0.

It seemed like everything was going against the Bruins. Even though they were playing well there was so many missed calls. This continued in Game 7 where it appeared that Boston should have gone on the power play on at least 1 or 2 more times, but the refs swallowed the whistle.

Next. No matter what Tuukka Rask is Conn Smyth winner. dark

The poor officiating doesn’t excuse the poor play from some of Boston’s stars, but it is definitely a black eye on the league.
