New England Patriots: Julian Edelman injured once again
By Sam Minton
It looks like the New England Patriots will be without another wide receiver when training camp starts due to Julian Edelman’s thumb injury.
The New England Patriots wide receiver corps has a tough job. They will have to improve a lot in a short period of time.
New England’s offense can no longer use Rob Gronkowski as their fail-safe. The passing game will solely be in the wide receiver’s hands.

One guy who is going to see a lot of targets this season is Julian Edelman. He is the Patriots top wide receiver and the guy who Tom Brady trusts the most.
Well it looks like Brady and the Patriots will be without Edelman for a while. Adam Schefter is reporting that the wide receiver will miss 3 weeks due to a thumb injury.
Now I am glad to hear that it is nothing serious and that Edelman is only missing weeks instead of months. He is one of the most important players on your offense, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.
Edelman is no longer a young buck, he is a knowledgeable veteran. When the season starts Edelman will be 33 years old. He is in the twilight years of his career.
So even though this isn’t a major injury it could have lingering effects. Wide receivers fingers including the thumb take a lot of pressure.
Now I hope that this doesn’t happen, but there is a good chance that Edelman re-injures the thumb during the season. If he does that could cause a lot of problems for the New England Patriots.
New England is already going to be relying on N’Keal Harry a lot. The rookie could become your No.1 receiver if Edelman is forced to miss some time. I don’t know if Harry is ready for that yet.
But hopefully this is just a small bump in the road for Julian Edelman and the New England Patriots.
