Boston Celtics: Enes Kanter praises Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown All-Star ceiling
Boston Celtics new big man Enes Kanter is winning points with fans and teammates with his latest praise of the team’s two young budding stars.
The Boston Celtics will be as good as the development of both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the 2019-20 NBA season. It is quite that simple.
With the departure of both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, that is the direction the team has decided to go in, and it will pay off if you ask one of the team’s newest additions, Enes Kanter.
In an interview with Hoops Hype’s Alex Kennedy, Kanter truly believes both young players have what it takes, beyond the talent, to emerge as NBA All-Star in 2019-20. If that happens, the duo, along with Kemba Walker, Gordon Hayward and Kanter himself have a real chance to make some major noise in the Eastern Conference.

"“I think they both have the potential to be All-Stars this year. I think they have all of the tools – they’re hardworking guys, they’re willing to learn, they have an amazing character on and off the court and they’re amazingly talented,” Kanter said. “I think for Jaylen and Jayson and ceiling is, of course, to be All-Stars. With their work ethic and leadership, I definitely think they can take our team to the next level and take us really, really deep in the playoffs.”"
There is certainly hope that this will be the case.
Both players went through growing pains and frustration during a very disappointing season for the Boston Celtics in 2017-18.
While Jayson Tatum appeared to take a step back during his sophomore campaign, Jaylen Brown turned a tumultuous start to the season into a pretty solid season after adjusting to his role coming off the bench.
Can both players make the leap Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is gambling on?
Still very young in their NBA careers, both players have shown the flash and maturity at times to make that leap All-Star status, or at least close to it. The overall team success is counting on that, along with Gordon Hayward returning to his own All-Star form.
Enes Kanter has certainly seen that potential in playing against them the last couple seasons and after meeting Brown, that excitement about their potential ceilings definitely has him giddy and pumped up to play with the duo.
With roles increased and more confidence instilled in them, the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown tandem are primed to make that leap and it couldn’t come at a better time for a franchise going through another transition.
After being basically called out last season as part of the team’s failures, it should be a nice jolt to have a new teammate like Kanter showing complete confidence in their leadership and ability.
